Alton Towers, United Kingdom

Alton Towers is awesome and this amazing theme park located in Staffordshire offers so many fun rides and attractions! The highlights of this theme park includes “Rita” which formerly known as queen of speed that accelerates to 62.1 mph just in 2.5 seconds, “Oblivion” as the world’s first vertical drop roller coaster, “Thirteen” as the world’s first vertical free fall drop roller coaster and lastly “The Smiler” as the world’s first roller coaster that has a whopping 14 inversions throughout the 2.45m ride. These adrenaline-pumping thrill rides are popular but does not require visitors to queue for long.

I never knew the existence of Alton Towers until my housemate Joyce invited me to join her for the day-trip. The park is huge, spacious and most importantly the rides are fantastic. The theme park has a great selection of rides ranging from gentle to trilling and it is an ideal place for family day out. My favorite ride is the Congo River Rapids and the best thing was the relatively short waiting period for majority of the rides. I would recommend Alton Towers to anyone and be sure to bring along a poncho that will come in handy during the Congo River Rapids ride! (Year 2010)
