The peaceful Memorial Park of Hiroshima located in the center of Hiroshima City is a large park surrounded by greenery and Motoyasu River which flows along the side of the park. It is a lovely park to stroll around and is very well kept. The Park is situated not too far from Hiroshima Station and visitors could travel by tram to the park and the ride would takes approximately 15 minutes. Visitors should take tram line 2 o r 6 to Genbaku-Domu Mae (原爆ドーム前) station and the park is within walking distance from the station.
The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is located in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park itself and I would recommend to visit the museum for those who are interested to learn about the aftermath of the bomb attack. The remarkable building known as “A-Bomb Dome” is one of the few buildings to remain standing in the memorial park after the incident and it is the symbol of the peace city. The building was formerly the Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall and was not destroyed completely by the blast of atomic bomb. No admission fee is required for the Peace Memorial Park but entrance to the museum require a fee. (Year 2013)
