Doi Inthanon Twin Pagodas, Thailand

The highest mountain in Thailand, Doi Inthanon is a spectacular tourist destination and it is approximately 2 hours’ drive from Chiang Mai city. Along the main road to the summit of Doi Inthanon, there are two attractive royal pagodas known as Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon meaning “by the strength of the land and air” and Phra Mahathat Naphaphonphumisiri meaning “being the strength of the air and the grace of the land”. The huge pagodas were built to honor the 60th birthday anniversary of the king and queen of Thailand and are accessible by escalator.

The surrounding of the pagodas is beautiful and both the grounds and gardens are beautifully maintained with lovely blooming flowers. Visitors could enjoy the breathtaking view of the mountain as there are many benches around for visitors to sit and relax. The combination of the beautiful view, colorful flowers, perfect weather and cooling temperature makes it one of the best places to visit in Chiang Mai. I would advise to bring along a cardigan or sweater to Doi Inthanon even during the hot season as the temperature will be around 20 degrees Celsius. I definitely recommend to visit this place but be sure to check the weather condition. (Year 2016)
